Most Things Break
Most things in life break. So what are you going to put your faith in? Money, Clothes, Relationships, stuff? Put your faith in Him - Christ Jesus. Remember: "and without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." Heb 11:6

Friday's game...
I sure do hope the Music City Bowl will be spectacular this Friday. I don't really care if it is a blowout, or a down to the last second field goal kinda game (actually that would be awesome). Or even if it is one of those grind-it-out games where the final score is something like 7 to 3... The is only one objective that needs to take place= a WIN for the CATS!...
oh, wait - both teams are CATS (So I guess my dream will come true!)
ok, ok, to clarify, here is my prediction for Friday's
game:
UK 31 and Clemson 24

I'm intrigued...
Has anyone had the chance to see The Pursuit of Happyness ?I know that Will Smith usually stars in movies that are 'sub-par'. (by sub-par I'm of course referring to a golf term = the whole goal is to get under par right? So being sub-par is a good thing...) (honestly: no joke here, I love Will Smith movies.)
Anyway, I hope that during this holiday season I get a chance to go view this box office beauty. All of the previews I have seen make this film look good. Real good. Maybe even instant classic good. Not the kinda good that is: "Oh, that was so funny", and then you forget the movie in a month. No, not the kinda good that is: "Oh, what a great story", I'm glad I watched that movie - then you don't ever care to see it again. ---Rather, I'm talkin' about the good that lasts. It lasts long enough that you would want to see the movie again. So good that you can make endless inside jokes with your friends about lines from the movie. Good to the point where you can see biblical truths hidden within the film. Good because it just moves you. For instance Home Alone (1 and 2), Braveheart etc... -are all movies that seemingly never get old b/c they are so masterfully produced. You feel me? Well, I hope this new Will Smith movie has a little bit of that kind of greatness. Partly b/c the movie has been so hyped up with good reviews, and also partly because it would be nice to see a little bit of quality return to Hollywood. No more of these remakes of old movies or making sequel after sequel of some comic book hero and his whimpy difficulties. How about some new ideas that are actually interesting. --Can you catch my drift here- (do you see even just a lil' bit of why I hope this movie will be great?)
Hold up, I guess I need to at least go and see the film first, right..?...

A lil' after 8...
Hello world. It is now a lil' after 8 p.m. I 'm here at work and believe it or not--it is actually a slow night here in the Pharmacy. so, I just wanted to spill a few thoughts:
1. You know those times when there really is NOTHING to do at work and you feel kind of shady for getting paid for time when you are just sitting around. - well, now is one of those times... I mean honestly there is nothing to do, (well, actually...) I know being lazy is certainly not a good habit to get comfortable with, so I'll for sure try to find something productive to do after I make this post.
2. Try as hard as you can to maintain a proper body weight during you entire life. (In other words, being Obese is not cool!) Especially when people in a hospital have to try and find arteries and veins through layers of fat= It's just not fun, or safe for that matter.
3. Scrubs are quite comfortable.
4. People always seem to come to life when you get them around their favorite food.

Home Alone insight...
Did anyone order me a plain cheese?
(You know, I'm kinda glad life is not always how you'd expect it to be.)

"In our search for answers to out sin problems, a troublesome question arises: What should I look to God for and what am I responsible for myself?"
"To confuse the potential for resisting (which God provides) with the responsibility for resisting (which is ours) is to court disaster in our pursuit of Holiness."
--Those are just a few quick lines from The Pursuit of Holiness written by Jerry Bridges. (I would include more: but I'm barely halfway through the book!)
I love reading 'christian' books yet I find that few truly resonate with my heart/life like this one. I'm sure all of you remember those times when you are reading a book and it seems like it is just you and God talking (obviously this happens with the bible) and you learn life-changing truths to apply to your life. Those times when it is really just God talking because you have no idea how to respond to every immeasurable quality that God is. I love those times (and I had many of those times while reading this book)... But believe it or not - their is a fleshly side of me (the old sinful side) that is annoyed by those times = b/c each time I learn an amazing biblical truth to apply to my life it means that I have even more of a responsibility to live a life of obedience to God. I know we are to be doers of the word rather than just hearers...
So while the sinful flesh in me groans and slowly dies with more 'work' and discipline for the Lord, the redeemed part of my being screams inside with joy and thankfulness for the opportunity to live, work, interact, and have relationships with others that glorify Jesus.
To gaze into the heart of where I'm at in life (and to be honest with ya) - here's how it is:
--In this first first lil' semester of college I've had a lot of time to reflect. Reflect on my spiritual growth. Reflect on grades. On relationships. On my future. My goals. My future wife/family. On those who have impacted my life in immeasurable ways. On friendships - old & new. On everything! And even though it is hard to comprehend: On eternity. -On how I have attitudes and actions now that will have an eternal impact! Basically I can look at where I am now and see that I need lots of change. Lots! Pressing towards greater obedience everyday is certainly not an instant process... but, Romans 12:1-2 and Philippians 4:8 are certainly helping that goal.
*since we should never be satisfied with where we are spiritually = Let's grow together!
Glory to Him who is alive and moving in our lives daily!

So The World may know -
This really is not big news- however, I have a small announcement.
As of today I officially now have an AIM account/screen name. ---The reason for the delay is that I absolutely hate AOL! I can't stand using AOL for the internt or e-mail > but instant messaging is a different ball game in which I think they are the best. I think AOL should change their services so that they strictly provide quality instant messaging and nothing else...
anyway- look for SirStamm when you are on AIM to chat. that'll be me.

Walking
Our Daily Walk: I think we all know that our Christian Walk is not something to be taken lightly. We are always striving to grow closer to God and we all know that it is something that must be taken one day at a time. However, sometimes, it feels like our walk becomes a hop, skip, or even a jump. Sadly, we may also go a day or two without talking to Him at all. Still, at other times we feel like were running with God; and even still, it sometimes feels like a crawl (or that God is carrying us the whole way). Regardless of the state at which we are spriritually, we are never satisfied (and shouldn't be) with where we are. --ok, Taylor get on with the point...
Well, in the link at the bottom of this post, a guy and girl are on an escalator in the mall. The escalator breaks and they have no clue what to do in the situation... After watching this clip I couldn't help but notice a biblical truth that I can apply to my own walk with Christ! > Much like the people in the clip, we often think that we get our spiritual nourishment from church sermons, or leaders/teachers. We do, but what happens when we go home? Are we only growing while listening to a sermon or sunday school lesson? (I hope not) I guess what I'm trying to say is, God wants you to keep pursuing a relationship with him at every waking second of your day. It is up to you to take responsibility for your faith and the growth of your character. In the same way that it is totally ridiculus for the people on the elevator to think that they are stuck and have no where to go without someone else showing them how to keep moving- it is also equally ridiculus for us as believers to think that we can only grow in our faith on Sunday's and Wednesday's... come on, let's press on for the prize, our time down here is short and we can't blame other things for our lack of spiritual growth. The only one stopping us, is ourselves.

WOW!
All I can say is "Wow!" each time I look at the BCS Bowl match ups for the ending of this college football year. I honestly want to watch all the games this year!--before I get too excited, let me at least say this: I have NEVER liked the BCS system as it stands currently, > The possibility of a playoff system has fascinated me (and probably you too) from the moment it was first mentioned... Anyway, despite not having the playoff (playoffs!?) to decide who is the true nat'l champion - I'm still Pumped UP for this years bowl games. The match ups are incredible:
Tostitos BCS Championship (Jan 8 @ 8p.m.)

Norms in the Dorms
"Huh?" is what came to mind when I noticed the numerous notches carved underneath a shelf in my dorm room early this semester. The shelf actually runs the length of the dorm room wall and is on the wall partially above my bed. I discovered these marks while reading in bed one night glancing upward in thought... [I think we are all old enough to realize what those 37 tally marks mean, so I'm not going to elaborate.]
I didn't really pay any thought to the tally marks mainly b/c:
1 It should be expected of a co-ed dorm...(sadly)
2 Maybe it was just a joke by a past room mate before me
3 I received an all-new mattress before the start of the semester for my room...
Anyway, in the past I didn't think much about em'-but slowly I'm gettin' annoyed by them when I read at night. Its just kind of a weird feeling laying in bed, reading, learning about God - and then looking up and seeing that. - so I've posted some scripture and other quotes up there under the shelf and the problem has recently been: no longer a problem.
This may seem like a stupid post, but I'd rather post about the small trivial things that happen to me - rather than only trying to come up with rare spectacular posts that are beautifully written appearing just once a month. just being honest...
